Various storage containers and shelving for coffee and tea

Choosing the Right Containers

Not all storage containers are created equal when it comes to preserving coffee and tea. The ideal container creates an airtight barrier against oxygen, blocks light, resists moisture, and is easy to open and close during daily use. Getting this balance right means your beverages stay fresh longer and your station looks consistently polished.

🏺 Ceramic Canisters

Opaque and airtight when fitted with silicone-sealed lids, ceramic canisters offer excellent protection for both coffee and tea. Their weight keeps them stable, and they come in a wide range of colours and finishes.

🪟 Glass Jars

Ideal for display when filled with colourful teas or whole beans, but best kept in a cabinet or dark shelf to prevent light damage. Choose jars with hinged lids and rubber gaskets for the best seal.

🥫 Metal Tins

Traditional and lightweight, metal tins work particularly well for tea. Look for double-lidded designs that provide an extra layer of air protection, keeping delicate leaves fresh for months.

Shelving Systems

The right shelving turns storage from a necessity into a design feature. Floating shelves create clean lines and an open feel. Ladder shelves add depth and visual interest. Closed cabinets with glass doors protect from dust while maintaining visibility. Consider mixing open and closed storage: display your most attractive pieces on open shelves while tucking utilitarian items behind doors.

Whichever system you choose, ensure shelves are deep enough to hold your largest containers securely and strong enough to support the weight of ceramic and glass. A shelf that looks beautiful but wobbles under load serves neither form nor function well.
